WHOOPS

The mighty Captain...
'Now the Democratic leadership has to backpedal from their enthusiasm for defeat. John Murtha made the mistake of talking too much about the purposes of the Democrats to force an end to the Iraq deployment by starving Centcom of supplies and fresh troops. Now Pelosi has to assure angry voters that she will not defund the troops fighting in the field. She won't even publicly support putting conditions on the pending $100 billion supplemental that Congress must approve in the coming weeks.

This is a major step backwards for the Democrats, and it doesn't come a moment too soon. They have earned the reputation as defeatists already, but they came close to owning responsibility for that defeat, and even members of their own ranks pointed that out. The attempt to double down after the failure of the non-binding resolutions has backfired, helped in large part because the new efforts would have had an actual impact on operations, crossing a line at which some supporters of the non-binding resolutions balked.'

Didn't the defeat of Ned Lamont teach the Liberals anything?

No one should kid themselves, the Democrat Party and the L-MSM are working hard to create a 'defeat' for this President.

(Mindlessly enabling the terrorist agenda around the Globe...)

They may sense, the majority of the Country is not attracted to treasonous efforts, but Democrats are obsessed with personal power.

Some nonbinding, negligent, nonsense is creeping in the darkness.

Code Pink, Cindy, Chomsky, etc., will be very upset with the DNC.

Maybe Hillary Rodham Clinton will soon suggest, she never really wanted the US to 'run away in 90 days'.

CHEATING

'By the time the Colts won, the Imbriales had received four more automatic calls, known as robo-calls. Their Hicksville home was one of perhaps thousands in the Nassau area that fended off an onslaught of robo-calls that night.

The next day, a frantic Ms. O'Connell sent an e-mail to supporters assuring them that her campaign was not responsible for something as unwise as harassing voters during the big game. She blamed the calls on her Democratic opponent, Craig Johnson, an accusation he denied. She also said she was filing a complaint with the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

As it turned out, the Super Bowl calls were not the only suspicious episode in the race, according to Senate Republicans. Three weeks after Mr. Johnson, a county legislator, defeated Ms. O'Connell and put the Democrats one seat closer to gaining control of the chamber, Republicans say they are using their legal staff to piece together evidence that links Democrats to at least four dirty tricks that took place during the last week of the pivotal race.'

Undermining Freedom

'It is an astounding thing that, from a remove of but 32 years, one of the leading figures in the Senate can boast of his plan to repeat the betrayal of Vietnam. Those who were involved at the time, or those who have been serious students of the period, just shake their heads in amazement at the senator's arrogance. It is well to remember that when the 94th United States Congress took the step that doomed our ally, there were no American GIs fighting in Vietnam. There was only the free government to which our country had given its assurances and which had acted on our signal in a war in which our own country had an interest. What happened in 1975 was not about saving American lives. It was about saving the agenda of the left.

Mr. Schumer was mostly out of the struggle against communism in Indochina. We do not say that Mr. Schumer is without patriotism or even his share of endearing qualities. But in the struggle to save the people of South Vietnam from falling into the long, dark night of communism, not a mote of honor attached to Mr. Schumer's breast. This week, while the senator was citing Vietnam as the model for a relentless campaign in the Congress to force our retreat from Iraq, he made no mention at all of the hundreds of thousands who died in communist re-education camps, of the millions who died in the killing fields of Cambodia, of the hundreds of thousands of boat people, who, once Vietnam fell, took to the seas in rickety boats in a flight to freedom that inspired the world.

Mr. Taranto, in his post on Tuesday, noted a number of ironies about Mr. Schumer's comments. Mr. Taranto observed that "anti-war ideologues" – including what Mr. Taranto called a significant number of elected Democrats – "viewed America's defeat in Vietnam as a victory for them – the enemy of my country is my friend and all that." But, Mr. Taranto went on, Mr. Schumer "is no antiwar ideologue," having voted for the Iraq war. He reckoned that Mr. Schumer's "eagerness for another Vietnam can be explained only as an act of political opportunism." Yet he noted that it is hard to see "any way in which Democrats benefited politically from becoming the anti- Vietnam party."'

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has a new commandment for the 2008 presidential field: Thou shalt not mention anything related to the impeachment of her husband.

With a swift response to attacks from a former supporter last week, advisers to the New York Democrat offered a glimpse of their strategy for handling one of the most awkward chapters of her biography. They declared her husband's impeachment in 1998 -- or, more accurately, the embarrassing personal behavior that led to it -- taboo, putting her rivals on notice and all but daring other Democrats to mention the ordeal again.

"In the end, voters will decide what's off-limits, but I can't imagine that the public will reward the politics of personal destruction," senior Clinton adviser Howard Wolfson said Friday, when asked whether the impeachment is fair game for Clinton's opponents. Earlier in the week, Wolfson dismissed references to President Bill Clinton's conduct as "under the belt."

OSCARED

'This Sunday, Al Gore will probably win an Academy Award for his global-warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth, a riveting work of science fiction.

The main point of the movie is that, unless we do something very serious, very soon about carbon dioxide emissions, much of Greenland’s 630,000 cubic miles of ice is going to fall into the ocean, raising sea levels over twenty feet by the year 2100.

Where’s the scientific support for this claim? Certainly not in the recent Policymaker’s Summary from the United Nations’ much anticipated compendium on climate change. Under the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s medium-range emission scenario for greenhouse gases, a rise in sea level of between 8 and 17 inches is predicted by 2100. Gore’s film exaggerates the rise by about 2,000 percent.'

The Clinton Deceit

HH: Charles, do you think it was a true statement?

CK: Well, I’m reminded of what the great retired political columnist, William Saffire wrote in the late 90’s. I can’t remember exactly when it was, but he called Hillary, I think I have this right, a congenital liar, and then he got a whole bunch of columns out of it, and explaining what he meant by congenital. And you know, this is not a new story. I never slept with that woman, that’s him, and then there was the Rose documents that showed up miraculously in the White House, their performance on Flowers in 1992 when the story came out on the eve of the New Hampshire primary. These people are pretty good at, let’s say, dissimulating, all right? That’s a cleaner, a nicer word.

The Clinton Campaign reacted overtly to Mr. Geffen's accurate commentary regarding the Clinton's obsession to lie.

The desire to defend, might stem from the understanding, this is a huge weakness for Hillary's facade.

Perhaps poll data, market research, etc., confirms the public is quite aware of the ugly Clintonian deceit.

The Clintons have demonstrated a bizarre insecurity, when anyone offers any criticism to their irresponsible nature.

Maybe they aren't fooling themselves, with all that finger wagging.

Ego, narcissism, etc., could create a higher sensitivity towards someone honestly reminding Americans about the Clintons.

Or, some Clinton Campaign members, eager to please their 'boss lady', decided to boldly counter a dose of reality from Mr. Geffen.

Regardless, the infamous 'Clinton Deceit' is a major campaign issue.

Supporters will try to manage the Clinton's need for endless fabrication, as nothing more than an attempted 'Swift Boating'.

But this unattractive reality cannot be ignored, or denied, for it sits like the 10,000 pound Intern in the Clinton living room.

Hillary Rodham Clinton cannot even tell the Nation, that she voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq...

UPDATE:
A "talking points" memo distributed to Hillary Rodham Clinton's supporters gives them the carefully crafted campaign line on how to deal with a host of nettlesome questions, including Bill Clinton being a drag on his wife and the former first lady's guarded personality.

EVEN MORE...
'Hillary's negatives have been known for quite some time. The Democrats believed that she would overcome them once she began to campaign nationally, but that hasn't happened. In fact, this week she showed herself as an insecure crank, or at least her campaign made her seem uptight and insecure.

Giuliani exposes her as an albatross for the Democrats. Despite having near-universal recognition, she can only muster 43% against Rudy. Her Democratic opponents do not fare much better in terms of their support against Giuliani, but more people seem willing to be undecided regarding them than they do with Hillary. Edwards and Obama score in the mid-40s, but they also pull Giuliani into the same range, especially Edwards.

Is that Giuliani? It seems more reflective of Hillary. She has a large bloc of voters who will vote against her regardless of her opponent. Edwards and Obama get more benefit of the doubt.

What does this mean for Hillary? It means that she'd lose the election, if they held it today. It serves more as an early-warning system for the Democrats; Hillary comes with some serious electability limitations, and if that doesn't start shifting in the next few months, she can kiss that nomination goodbye. Assuming, of course, that nothing changes for the next 20 months.'

Thank You Mr. Vice President

"I'm not sure what part of it is that Nancy disagreed with. She accused me of questioning her patriotism. I didn't question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment."

"You also have to be accountable for the results. What are the consequences of that? What happens if we withdraw from Iraq?," he said. "And the point I made and I'll make it again is that al-Qaida functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That's their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we'll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of al-Qaida. I said it and I meant it."

Asked if he was willing to take back his criticism of Pelosi, Cheney replied, "I'm not backing down."

Pelosi Complains?

The Bush Administration has been slandered endlessly by Democrat Partisans, the L-MSM, and elected Democrat Leaders, etc...

The Vice President accurately describes the liberal folly, enabling the brutal forces who produce terrorism around the world:
"I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the Al Qaeda strategy," the vice president told ABC News. "The Al Qaeda strategy is to break the will of the American people ... try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit."

And Madame Pelosi phones to complain?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday phoned President Bush to air her complaints over Vice President Dick Cheney's comments that the Congressional Democrats' plan for Iraq would "validate the Al Qaeda strategy."

Pelosi, who said she could not reach the president, said Cheney's comments wrongly questioned critics' patriotism and ignored Bush's call for openness on Iraq strategy.

Poor Speaker...

It must be such a difficult burdern, unethically trying to undermine the USA for personal political gain, while this fine Nation is fighting those who wish to destroy the Free World.

Democrats cannot handle the truth...
Especially regarding their own ugly behavior.

What does Nancy expect?

Her own Jack 'Slow Bleed' Murtha is hoping to defy the US Constitution, to give the horrid terrorists a victory:
"Mr. Murtha has a different idea. He would stop the surge by crudely hamstringing the ability of military commanders to deploy troops."

Naughty Nancy herself, repeatdly lied about al Qaeda's efforts in Iraq, trying to weaken support for this President and the essential mission:
"The War in Iraq Is Not the War on Terror"

Ms. Pelosi repeated this pathetic facade quite often:
"No matter how many times the president wants to say it, the war in Iraq is not the war on terror..."

Remember this ugly effort by the Liberal from San Francisco?
"The president knows that because the troops are in harm's way that we won't cut off the resources," Pelosi, head of the Democratic-led House, told ABC's "Good Morning America. "That's why he's moving so quickly to put them in harm's way."

Saying Democrats were waging a "sound-bite war," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino fired back: "Questioning the president's motivations and suggesting that he for some political reason is rushing troops into harm's way is not appropriate, it is not correct and it is unfortunate."

Did Nancy forget what she and her Party just voted for?
'This was an unprecedented move by Congress to interfere in the command of American troops during wartime. Congress has threatened to cut off funding before to end conflicts and deployments, but no one can find an example of Congress scolding the President over a specific strategy while the military implements it. It declares a military operation in its opening stages a defeat before it has a chance to succeed, a mind-boggling statement, and one entirely performed for partisan purposes.'

Sadly, these dishonest Democrats have only obsessed about their own personal political gain since the horrid attacks on 9-11.

Whether they know it, or not, Democrat Partisans bear responsibility for their unethical actions, and will not be forgotten.

"And maybe she ought to realize that the reason some people out there question her patriotism (the Vice President is not one of them) is because many see her plan as harming the national security interests of the United States and handing the enemy a victory."

"Disingenuous Party"

Bumped for this...
I've just confirmed that the Hillary camp is wrong. Geffen is NOT the Obama campaign's finance chair (as her communications chair Wolfson claims in his statement) and indeed has no formal role, according to an Obama spokesman who told me the mistake seems deliberate: "They're trying to gin up a controversy."

The mighty Sweetness & Light...
'Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed yesterday to change the United States so it’s no longer an "arrogant power" that alienates the world.'

Oh my...
Mrs. Clinton only wants to 'take things away' from Americans.

Even our evil 'arrogant power'?
Which has provided liberty for millions around the world.

Hillary Rodham is a very ugly comedian.
Mrs. Clinton has a unique tendency to put others down, slander anyone she feels, and has no sense of decency.

Hillary also thinks the Clintons are above criticism...
'She wants to lead the nation, and the free world. And our troops. But let someone with a little disposable cash cast a disagreeable eye her way, and Hillary thrusts out her lip, plays the victim, calls them “mean” and demands that they pull back and let her win!

Hey - there is a tactic we haven’t tried! I wonder if we can defeat Islamofascism by labeling them “meanies” and making a moue.'

Via the all powerful Mr. Drudge...
GEFFEN SLAMS HILLARY:
'Everybody in politics lies, but they [the Clintons] do it with such ease, it's troubling.'

And the Clintons respond, with 'how dare' someone reveal the truth about the Clinton's vivid deceit:
"Clinton Camp to Obama:
Cut Ties & Return Cash After Top Booster's Vicious Attacks
As Obama rails against 'slash & burn' politics, his top Hollywood fundraiser - David Geffen - personally attacks Hillary & her family."

Suddenly, Mr. Geffen is part of the vast right wing conspiracy.

Are you laughing now?

Hillary and Bill love the art of 'slash and burn'...

'It doesn't take a $10,000 per month consultancy to advise Hillary on political matters in South Carolina or to conduct outreach. It looks and smells like a payoff, and given the history of the Clintons in politics, it smells particularly bad.

The immediate question should be this: how many other paid consultants are higher-profile politicians who have endorsed Hillary? How many other politicans has Hillary bought in this stage of the primaries?'

Too bad, those slippery Clintons weren't able to bribe al Qaeda as well, back in the 1990's.

They tried to purchase Kim Jong Il and Yasser Arafat, but those killers just took Bill and Company for a quick ride.

SHIP OF FOOLS

The Democrat Party...
"PROVIDING aid and comfort to the enemy in wartime is treason. It's not "just politics." It's treason.

And signaling our enemies that Congress wants them to win isn't "supporting our troops." The "nonbinding resolution" telling the world that we intend to surrender to terrorism and abandon Iraq may be the most disgraceful congressional action since the Democratic Party united to defend slavery..."

More regarding the Cowards...
Unparalleled Perfidy

'War On Terror: The party of John Murtha shamelessly seeks to defund and defeat U.S. troops on the battlefield and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The Congress the terrorists wanted is doing their bidding.

There's a reason the founders of this country designated a single commander in chief and placed the responsibility to wage war in the hands of the president. We saw recently the futility of having 100 commanders in chief when the Senate tried to pass a resolution of disapproval of the war in Iraq and couldn't agree on the terms of our surrender.

Now it's the House of Representatives' turn, led by Rep. John Murtha, who believes the fine young men and women we send to defeat terror and our sworn enemies are cold-blooded killers. While the House works on its own nonbinding resolution, Murtha has bigger plans and considers such a resolution only a prelude to the real battle in March over appropriations for the war.'

Meanwhile...
'ATTACKS and killings in Baghdad have dropped by 80 per cent since Iraqi and US forces launched their security plan for Baghdad, Iraqi army spokesman Qasim al-Musawi said today.'

It is no wonder why Terrorists around the Globe,
advocated for the election of Democrats in the USA.

'So "the Murtha plan" is to deny the president the possibility of victory while making sure Democrats don't have to share the blame for the defeat. But of course he's a great American! He's a patriot! He supports the troops! He doesn't support them in the mission, but he'd like them to continue failing at it for a couple more years. As John Kerry wondered during Vietnam, how do you ask a soldier to be the last man to die for a mistake? By nominally "fully funding" a war you don't believe in but "limiting his ability to use the money." Or as the endearingly honest anti-war group MoveCongress.org put it, in an e-mail preview of an exclusive interview with the wise old Murtha:

"Chairman Murtha will describe his strategy for not only limiting the deployment of troops to Iraq but undermining other aspects of the president's foreign and national security policy."

"Undermining"? Why not? To the Slow-Bleed Democrats, it's the Republicans' war. To an increasing number of what my radio pal Hugh Hewitt calls the White-Flag Republicans, it's Bush's war. To everyone else on the planet, it's America's war. And it will be America's defeat.'

'Clinton Gives War Critics New Answer on '02 Vote'

...She settled on language that was similar to Senator John Kerry’s when he was the Democratic nominee in 2004: that if she had known in 2002 what she knows now about Iraqi weaponry, she would never have voted for the Senate resolution authorizing force.

Yet antiwar anger has festered, and yesterday morning Mrs. Clinton rolled out a new response to those demanding contrition: She said she was willing to lose support from voters rather than make an apology she did not believe in.

“If the most important thing to any of you is choosing someone who did not cast that vote or has said his vote was a mistake, then there are others to choose from,” Mrs. Clinton told an audience in Dover, N.H., in a veiled reference to two rivals for the nomination, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina.

Her decision not to apologize is regarded so seriously within her campaign that some advisers believe it will be remembered as a turning point in the race: either ultimately galvanizing voters against her (if she loses the nomination), or highlighting her resolve and her willingness to buck Democratic conventional wisdom (if she wins).

At the same time, the level of Democratic anger has surprised some of her allies and advisers, and her campaign is worried about how long it will last and how much damage it might cause her.

“Some of her many advisers think she should’ve uttered the three magic words — ‘I was wrong’..."

Something Smells

'NBC News, which has recently taken a turn to the left, plays a particularly prominent role in the prosecution's case. Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald is fighting hard to make sure reporter Andrea Mitchell's testimony is not heard, and is asking the jury to buy some highly implausible notions about a key FBI interview with NBC's Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert.

Gagging Mitchell

The prosecution is still trying hard to keep Andrea Mitchell from being called as a defense witness. In a pleading Friday, the defense is trying just as hard to get court permission to call her. The prosecution argues that the defense cannot call a witness just to impeach her, and the defense says that is not their only reason to call her, that she has other evidence to provide, and that a fair trial cannot be had without her being called and questioned by the defense.

In the period leading up to the disclosure of her status in the Novak case, Mitchell published a series of leaks (clearly from Department of State sources and just as clearly part of the CIA-State Department interagency war) aimed at the CIA's intelligence gathering. Among the interesting points in her stories:

* On July 14, 2003, just as Novak's article hit the newsstands, Mitchell made clear she was having a spat with Armitage (the first to leak), indicating the he wasn't returning her phone calls any longer and that he had chosen an appearance on Fox instead of NBC.'

Pure lunacy...

Democrat Insanity

Helping Al Qaeda

'Anti-American feeling in Europe is playing into the hands of al-Qa'eda and unwittingly encouraging terrorism, Australia's foreign minister said today.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Alexander Downer urged European politicians to weigh the consequences of their words before they "leap out there and attack America".

Mr Downer added: "The al-Qa'eda leadership has said on many occasions that more than 50 per cent of the battle is a battle in the media. The more you can get media denigration of America, the more that the war against terrorism is seen to be an indictment of America, the better for those who started this war."

"It's very rude to say these people want to help al-Qa'eda. They don't. But obviously America's enemies take comfort from continual attacks on America by America's friends," he said. "Before you leap out there and vigorously attack America, think about what you're saying and the consequences of what you're saying."'

Strongly Agree

Ever hear of the story of the Man who refused to eat, unless the meal was the perfect ideal, and eventually starved to death?

'For one thing, while there has always been a streak of isolationism on the right (as on the left), the international retreatism that the Times attributes to Armey and others in the group does not represent the mainstream of today's conservative movement. And the article's implication that there is some sort of conservative groundswell for Chuck Hagel, on isolationist grounds, is ridiculous: every conservative I know would rather tar and feather Hagel than nominate him.

Beyond that, when, exactly, has this country ever elected the sort of pure conservative that this group, as depicted by the Times, yearns for? These Reagan alumni have perhaps forgotten how disappointed conservatives were through most of Reagan's administration. (Remember "Let Reagan be Reagan"?) And who, if we put Reagan to one side, is the conservative paragon that the current candidates don't live up to? William McKinley, maybe? I can't think of anyone else in the last century.

The current crop of candidates is not perfect; what crop ever was? But they are strong leaders of extraordinary ability. And Giuliani, McCain and Romney are united on the key issue of our time, victory in the war against Islamic extremism. If a purer conservative wants to get into the race, fine, and I might well back him. (And, no, I'm not talking about Mike Huckabee or Sam Brownback.) But conservatives need to get over any fantasies they may harbor about the Gingrich administration that never will be and the Reagan administration that never was, and get on with the business of electing the best possible--and I do mean "possible"--candidate in 2008.'

The dysfunctional Democrat Party, should be a vivid warning against playing with fire, and larger efforts in self destruction.

Last November, a number of Conservatives sought perfection, and only encouraged the agenda of those they completely oppose.

Watching yesterday's Global Warming Hearing conducted by Liberal Extremes, should alarm everyone...

The juvenile scene, which included only one side of a 'consensus' and provided little basis, was deeply concerning.

'Pelosi Wants US Gas Emissions Halved By 2050'

Yet, some seem eager to further empower the Democrat folly, because they seek an unrealistic ideal from those serving their interest.

Beware of leadiing Hillary to the Presidency with a Democrat Majority in Congress, inviting massive taxation, dangerous appeasement, crippling regulation, further increases in illegal immigration, and a nationalized society.

Many compare the sincere LEGEND of Ronald Reagan to today's political environment, which is truly unfair.

They tend to forget, the Hero of President Reagan enabled Social Security with the Democrats, gave amnesty to illegal immigrants, and accepted massive amounts of domestic spending in return for support in the Cold War.

A great Man, an amazing President, but many cynics on the Conservative side abandoned the Gipper, just as they vacated support for GW Bush in the Second Term.

This poster personally knows a Conservative in New Jersey, who refused to vote for a Republican because of ONE issue, which helped elect the Democrat alternative, who now emboldens the opposite of everything the voter believes in, (including the ONE issue in which the GOP Representative was not ideal).

Instead of one step forward, the result produced several paces back.

The context of the Liberal Democrat Folly, must not be ignored.

YIKES

Tiny Tim Shrinking

'NBC's Tim Russert got the sort of "Meet the Press" interrogation he usually gives his guests as attorneys Thursday flashed excerpts of his previous statements on a video monitor and asked him to explain inconsistencies.

Russert is the final witness for the prosecution in the perjury trial of former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. The broadcast journalist, who hosts the Sunday network television interview show, found his own scruples questioned during his second day on the witness stand.

Russert seemed uncomfortable at times as Libby's attorneys asked him to explain why he willingly told an FBI agent about a July 2003 conversation with Libby, then gave a sworn statement saying he would not testify about that conversation because it was confidential.

"Did you disclose in the affidavit to the court that you had already disclosed the contents of your conversation with Mr. Libby," Libby's attorneys Theodore Wells asked.

"As I've said sir ... "Russert began.

"It's a yes or no question," Wells interrupted.

"I'd like to answer it to the best of my ability," Russert said.

"This is a very simple question. Either it's in the affidavit or it's not?" Wells asked. "Did you disclose to the court that you had already communicated to the FBI the fact that you had communicated with Mr. Libby?"

"No," Russert said.

Wells wants to cast Russert as someone who cannot be believed, who publicly championed the sanctity of off-the-record conversations but privately revealed that information to investigators. Russert said he viewed the FBI conversation and testimony to prosecutors differently.'

Are you laughing yet?

Let's quickly review...

1. This is a case of a Presidential Administration Official, accused of perjury in discussions related to a publicly known CIA Employee.
2. The L-MSM (including Mr. Russert's NBC-MSNBC) still falsely report the trial being about the outing of a CIA Agent, who was NOT classified as 'secret'.
3. The CIA Agent - Husband Team are extreme Partisans, who may have conspired to undermine a Presidency for their own political gain, and lied about vital information important to the Nation's Security.
4. And the witnesses for this (sophomoric) Prosecution, mostly connected to the Democrat Party, cannot keep their story straight?

Simply bizarre...

Are you allowed to lie under oath, to convict someone of perjury?
And didn't these same fools, oppose the impeachment of Bill Clinton?

NOT SO FAST

A funny thing happened on the way to the Senate yesterday...

Democrats were stunned with failure.

'In the first battleground vote of the new Senate, Mitch McConnell's Team America whacked Harry Reid's French Foreign Legion in a filibuster vote to stop the "bill to express the sense of Congress to cut & run in Iraq." Donks were only able to get 49 of the 60 necessary votes to bring the bill to a floor.'

The Liberals believed they would be cheering joyously, boasting their suppposed defeat of GW Bush (with non-binding nonsense), just as they once foolishly claimed to have 'killed' the Patriot Act.

The Democrat Senators were weakly trying to appease their unhinged leftist base, and a perceived populist anti-GWOT mindset, by pushing a pointless, non-binding, self serving, juvenile resolution.

This 'resolution' charade began with Liberal Democrat's hoping to abandon the People of Iraq. But reality slowly overcame the DNC insanity. The American Public isn't in favor of running away, the irresponsible Democrat agenda only emboldens Terrorists, and would leave millions of Free Iraqis defenseless.

Thus, Harry Reid's Liberals changed their vapid approach, to a symbolic objection towards a Troop Surge. As if, undermining the tactics of the US Military, is any less despicable. Ironically, a number of Democrats feigned a desire for an increase of US Forces in Iraq prior to last November's Elections, including Naughty Nancy.

Regardless, yesterday the GOP refused to embrace the undermining of the US President and US Armed Forces fighting the GWOT.

Perhaps, they heard the many voices of reason...

Senator McConnell managed to maintain a mostly uniform Republican effort, objecting to the absurd 'dictatorial' Liberal Democrat agenda, which tried to ban debate and censor alternative (positive) measures in regards to the mission in Iraq.

Of course, the MSM is laughably trying to portray this as a Republican effort to kill debate, ignoring the historic levels of obstruction the Democrats provided as a minority in the last Congress.

The impressive Mr. Hewitt...
'This hilarious bit of Orwellian rewrite of recent history with Minority Leader Harry Reid's tactics sent down the memory hole is less shocking than the Post's William Arkin's application of the term mercenaries to U.S. troops, but all of a piece. The Mitch McConnell-led Senate GOP is getting a taste of what the next two years will be like, and it needs to get organized now for the almost daily assaults on its legislative rights led by Reid and supported by the Beltway-Manhattan media elite. If it holds together this week, it will hold together as necessary throughout the year, and the base will support its members who defend the principles of the party as aggressively as Reid's Democrats did during the 2005-06 Congress. Forcing Senators Schumer and Durbin to be the face of the angry Democrats is a very good thing for the public to see, and defending the troops and their mission an even better example of why the GOP deserves the majority back.'

The mighty Powerline...
'The Dems, of course, used the filibuster throughout their recent time in the minority, and the MSM invariably covered for them even when, unlike here, the filibuster actually did prevent voting on the issue at hand. Here, the Washington Post described a Republican cloture motion during the judicial nomination battles as a "motion to end debate." Here, the New York Times described a similar motion during the debate on a gay marriage bill as "shutting off debate." But now, in the world of MSM pro-Democratic spin, efforts to resist cloture have somehow become attempts to end debate.'

The amazing Anchoress...
I keep thinking of Hamlet, after his play has struck the conscience of the king, Claudius. Through a whirlwind of confusion Hamlet turns to Ophelia and says - with seeming clarity of mind - “believe none of this.”
