McGovern's $1,000 in 1972 was worth, in 2006 dollars, $4808.90. Add a few bucks for 2007, and Hillary's baby present is a dead ringer for the demogrant proposal that was laughed off the stage in 1972!'

Selling bribes of taxpayer money, with greater hopes of taking things away from Americans when HRC reigns supreme.

Ironically, this is another baseless offering coming from someone who has never had anything passed, completed, achieved, accomplished, reformed, instituted, or realized.

Hillary Clinton could not even persuade the Senate, to let her investigate the Katrina Tragedy.

And Ms. Rodham failed miserably to obtain the Olympics for NYC.

This pathetic bribery attempt could be a sincere sign, all is not going well with the desperate Clinton Campaign.

The claim makes intuitive sense to anyone who's been watching the way the political winds have been blowing. The growing Hispanic population in the interior West could easily turn the region a solid shade of blue if the national GOP keeps working overtime to alienate immigrants. And other states with large immigrant populations, such as Iowa and Florida, will be affected by the same trend.

America's Majority Foundation has backed this intuition up with data. The foundation studied six border districts — in New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Texas — and looked at the actual votes cast by Hispanic voters in 2004 and 2006, during which period exit polls showed the GOP losing 14 points with Latinos nationally. "In the Latino areas where candidates advocated a variant of ‘enforcement only,'" Mr. Nadler said, "support for Republicans dropped by more than 21 percentage points over a single cycle, and support for Democrats rose by an equivalent amount."

These are stark numbers, but there's nothing surprising here. While some Republicans believe they can avoid alienating all Latino voters by focusing only on "illegal" immigration, immigrants of whatever status get the message: Hispanics go home. As Mr. Nadler puts it: "Policies that induce mass fear in illegal aliens induce mass anger in legal aliens because of ties of family culture and a shared media communication." A solution, however, beckons. It turns out that for Republicans willing to match border enforcement with allowing those already in the country a path to citizenship, much of the political damage can be erased.

President Bush had it right.

So many handled this issue poorly, with hyperbole and vitriol.

The Elite Pundits failed to see the bigger picture, undermining their own interests in Washington over a decades old problem.

They encouraged bitter resentment, even though the Bush Administration did more to stem illegal immigration then the prior 4 Presidents combined.

It did not matter that we were in the midst of Global War against Radical Muslim Terrorists.

Some very strange sources, were pushing an obsessive fashion, deluding the focus from the essential fight overseas.

And still, after all the fuss, we have absolutely no reform to improve the regretful status quo.

Now, it seems the entire effort will only empower the Liberal Democrat Party, who wants to ignore all borders.

The most vocal advocates for ending the illegal immigration influx, have unwittingly empowered the exact opposite.

When Republicans produced a border security fence (only) bill, the anti-illegal movement didn't reward their efforts.

The obtuse handling of the issue created most of the problems.

The expression of some proved quite ugly.

Especially within this fine Nation of Immigrants.

But ceding the USA to the Democrats is never the answer.

We had better get it together, before it is too late.

Seventh, the sound-bite of the evening was probably when Hillary seemed to reject the view of an unnamed guest on Meet The Press who acknowledged that if we captured the number three guy in al Qaeda and that person knew the whereabouts of a bomb that was going to explode in three days, we might need to beat the information out of him. The unnamed guest, of course, turned out to be Bill Clinton. After a brief pause, Hillary said, "well he's not up here right now." She then added, with smile (real this time) that she would have to talk to him about the matter.

Clinton's substantive answer was another evasion, though. She did not categorically state that there could be no torture in this situation, just that we can't have torture "as a matter of policy."

This is the Clinton debate strategy in a nutshell -- give non-answers or cagey answers when necessary and use her new-found sense of humor and/or attacks on President Bush in the hope that people won't notice. It should get her through the primaries and it may get back to the White House.'

However, the DNC charade is far from over:
'So it's nuts to sit here in September and say Hillary can't be stopped. We don't know whether she can be stopped, and we won't know whether she can be stopped until we get within a couple weeks of the caucuses and watch as voters start getting serious about making their choice...

Now consider how all of this could work against Hillary. She has massive leads in the national polls and in New Hampshire and Florida. But the one place where she's in a real dog fight is Iowa. A win there would probably clinch the nomination. But if she enters as the national front runner and the prohibitive favorite and suffers an upset in Iowa - especially a bad one - it could cause her entire campaign to unravel. Especially if, as it looks now, the caucuses are held in very close proximity to the New Hampshire primary and she has no time to stanch the bleeding. So for all the talk of other candidates seeing Iowa as a "must win," it may turn out that Hillary needs a win there most of all.'

Dianne Feinstein got $17,000. Mark Pryor took $11,000 from Hsu. All of them support Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.'

MoveOn.org yesterday said it would pony up the full price it should have paid The New York Times for a full-page ad slamming Gen. David Petraeus, a day after the paper admitted giving the left-wing activist group a huge discount.

MoveOn said it would wire $77,083 to the Times today to make up the difference for the ad that called the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq "General Betray Us."

"Now that the Times has revealed this mistake for the first time, and while we believe that the $142,083 figure is above the market rate paid by most organizations, out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to pay that rate for this ad," said MoveOn director Eli Pariser. "We will, therefore, wire the $77,083 difference to the Times tomorrow."

The MoveOn announcement came a day after Times Public Editor Clark Hoyt wrote that the ad "violated The Times' own written standards, and the paper now says that the advertiser got a price break it was not entitled to."

And he quoted Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis as saying, "We made a mistake."

Yesterday, near Rome, the 80-year-old pontiff made a speech in “defence of religious liberty”, which, he said “is a fundamental, irrepressible, inalienable and inviolable right”.

In a clear reference to Islam, he said: “The exercise of this freedom also includes the right to change religion, which should be guaranteed not only legally, but also in daily practice.”

Addressing the problem of Islamic extremism, he added: “Terrorism is a serious problem whose perpetrators often claim to act in God’s name and harbour an inexcusable contempt for human life.”

And a Brooklyn state senator says he'll try to overturn the decision.

"This governor has chosen to give the keys to the city, the keys to the state to terrorism," Golden said.

When Hillary Rodham Clinton held an intimate fund-raising event at her Washington home in late March, Pamela Layton donated $4,600, the maximum allowed by law, to Mrs. Clinton's presidential campaign.

But the 37-year-old Ms. Layton says she and her husband were reimbursed by her husband's boss for the donations. "It wasn't personal money. It was all corporate money," Mrs. Layton said outside her home here. "I don't even like Hillary. I'm a Republican."

The boss is William Danielczyk, founder of a Washington-area private-equity firm and a major fund-raising "bundler" for Mrs. Clinton. Mrs. Layton's gift was one of more than a dozen donations that night from people with Republican ties or no history of political giving. Mr. Danielczyk and his family, employees and friends donated a total of $120,000 to Mrs. Clinton in the days around the fund-raiser.

In an interview, Mr. Danielczyk said he "did not and would not" reimburse employees or others for their political donations....

One person at the event was a Washington-area investor who was considering putting some money in one of Mr. Danielczyk's ventures. The investor, a registered Republican, said he was invited by Mr. Danielczyk and a colleague who were wooing him to invest at least $125,000 in one of their companies.

The investor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, says he didn't donate any money to Mrs. Clinton. Campaign-finance records show that the investor contributed $4,600 on March 30 to Mrs. Clinton. The reason for the discrepancy isn't clear.

Mrs. Layton, who lists her occupation as dental instructor at a wellness center, is a Republican, and her husband, Philip, has supported Democrats in the past. Mr. Layton is the information technology director at Galen Capital, according to the company's Web site.

"I was invited but I didn't want to go," Mrs. Layton said.

Other Republican voters who contributed the maximum amount to Mrs. Clinton at this event included Mr. Danielczyk's mother, sister, personal assistant and a half-dozen employees or their spouses. Most of the donors had never made a political donation before contributing $4,600 to Mrs. Clinton, according to fund-raising records.

Mr. Danielczyk said some of the attendees were Republicans, but "they may vote for her [Mrs. Clinton] now." He added, "It's odd... You try to get involved in the political process and you come under scrutiny."

"I feel like I'm pretty much an honorary resident of New Jersey," Clinton said. "I just don't want you to charge me any more property taxes on top of what I pay in New York."

While most of the room laughed at the joke, several groans were heard in the ballroom of Bally's Atlantic City. New Jersey Republicans have long railed against the Garden State's highest-in-the-nation property taxes, where the average homeowner pays $6,300 a year in property taxes.

"Hillary Clinton unknowingly reminded New Jersey voters of the Democrats' most glaring political blunder since taking power: a catastrophic 40 percent rise in homeowners' property taxes," said Assemblyman Richard Merkt, R-Morris.

"With a friend like this, who needs enemies?" he said. "I kind of wish she'd spend more time in New Jersey."

Clinton did not mention the latest political corruption arrests in New Jersey, which occurred a day earlier when 11 public officials , 10 of whom were Democrats , were charged in a bribery scheme.?

Very strong as well. He has charisma, youth, energy, and a positive nature. Mitt's discourse regarding tax reduction was strong. (Some rumors reported by the liberal leaning press are misleading about his position on Iraq - beware of the attempts to help McCain and others).

A very good Representative. Congressman Hunter is mighty fine, but is clearly needed in the House. He handled himself quite well, but lacks the ability to inspire. Solid, but not very articulate. He would be wise to grow a movement in the Congress to rebuke the likes of Nancy Pelosi. Hunter is best served when he points out the mindless offering of taxation, waste, spending, etc., of the Democrat Opposition.

A nice Man, who should let this effort go. Some positives in pointing out the folly of the Democrat opposition, even a fine response about why the potential social experimentation of changing the definition of Marriage is completely misguided.
